R&D engineer to support the operations of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) production unit.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support operations of high voltage gas-insulated switchgear (HV GIS) production unit with product/part/drawing clarifications / deviations / customer queries / etc.

  • Contribute to parts localisation & product cost-reduction through definition of part validation requirements, new supplier approvals and validation tests as required

  • Handle development projects of new electrical products and range expansion of existing products to cater project specific requirements / sourcing strategies

  • Perform modelling, drafting and design validation though calculations (dielectric, pressure, thermal etc.) on newly designed components/assemblies

  • Conduct trainings on GIS products for external and internal customers

  • Contribute to product improvement and cost-reduction through regular Genba walks, customer site visits, CFT discussions, safety issues reporting, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • M.E/M.Tech/Ph.D in electrical or mechanical engineering with minimum 5 years (3 years for Ph.D) of relevant experience

  • Experienced in dielectric/pressure/thermal calculations (ex. Ansys)

  • Skilled in modelling, drafting and PLM in Creo and Windchill

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical design and GD&T

  • Excellent project management skills and ability to anticipate and mitigate project risks

  • Structured technical analysis and strongdecision-making capability

  • Well organised and good in documentation

  • Experience in high voltage products.
