Design Engineer – Mechanical
About the Position :
The Mechanical Design Engineering will be responsible for the complete design and engineering from Ideation to Product realisation. He / She will create solutions for NPD or enhancements to existing products using first principles engineering, technical analysis / FMEA and verification of the design for high quality, robust and cost-effective products(s). He / She will also ensure successful design-transfer into manufacturing / supply chain.
Must be persistent and have strong problem-solving skills. He / She should also be creative enough to generate innovative ideas and bring them to fruition.
Key Responsibilities :
- To build design, development and testing of mechanical sub-systems for electro-mechanical devices and accessories from concept to product.
- Hands-on experience of the plastic/sheet metal manufacturing process.
- Ideation, design and hands-on prototyping and feasibility testing of design concepts.
- Design and develop engineered plastic parts, insert molded parts and assemblies.
- Establish the parameters for an optimal molding environment.
- Ensure quality output of molded components.
- Identify suitable plastic materials and manufacturing processes.
- Identify, evaluate and drive development projects with suppliers and partners.
- Deliver design solutions with proper validation & verification that specifications for product systems, subsystems, interfaces and components meet design requirements.
- Has the direct responsibility of part lifecycle management for mechanical parts & sub-systems. Create & maintain design documentation (BOM’s, Specifications, Drawings)
- Follow Design Control for medical devices to ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, international, and internal safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Supports internal and external regulatory audits . Facilitates cross functional team problem solving continuous design improvement projects
- Ensure the design considerations are embedding all applicable DFX (Design for Excellence) aspects including manufacturability, serviceability, reliability and safety.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s or Min Mechanical Engineering from Institutions of repute.
- Minimum 2 years of experience product development in Medical or Automotive or Electronics devices & Mechanical design using CAD/CAE, Candidates with prior experience in Medical
- Hands-on skills with the proven ability to independently apply deep technical knowledge to handle complex mechanical designs.
- Hands-on engineered plastics and sheet metal.
- Required to have experience in complete product lifecycle i.e. from product conceptualization to design development and manufacturing including Customer Service of medical devices
- Strong design skills. Exposure to CAD/CAE tools (Solidworks, AUTOCAD, PRO-E, etc)
- Electro-mechanical integration and electronics exposure is preferable
- Solid understanding of general manufacturing processes like injection moulding & machining with experience in tool engineering and design.
- Experience in Vendor management, component/material selection with experience in part / sub-assembly design development, prototyping and verification
Required Experience :
Min 2 Years of product Design & Development in a Product Engineering set up for a global Electronics / Automobile / Medical Systems company.
